Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) is the 17th public university in Malaysia, focusing on engineering and technology, with strong social sciences support. Established in 2002 in the northern most state of Perlis, it is part of a 4-member Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN).
The University not only support the development of human capital for the electrical and electronics industry in the northern region of the Peninsula Malaysia, but also strives as a centre in research and innovation. This aspiration is evident in the establishment of six research clusters early on in 2005, which then evolved to become the research centres of excellence (CoE). At the moment, there are nine such CoEs, working in diverse areas of research from nano-engineering to advanced sensor technologies and sustainable agro-technology.
The University is also home to six Engineering Schools, one Engineering Technology Faculty, one Business School and one school for Human Development and Technocommunication. At the moment, there are almost 15,000 students at the UniMAP, with about 10% of them doing postgraduate studies.
The School of Mechatronic Engineering is one of the earliest at UniMAP, offering study programmes in Mechatronic, Mechanical and Biomedical Electronic Engineering at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This year, the School of Mechatronic Engineering is proudly organising the fifth International Conference on Man Machine Systems (ICOMMS2019). The conference is being organised concurrently with ICADME2019 and ICOBE 2019 in the pearl of the orient, Pulau Pinang from the 26th -27th August 2019.
